Martin Kay

Martin has lived in Cheddar since 2001 and has a background in IT, having worked for various large organisations and on government projects in the London area before “downsizing” to focus more on helping the small local business make the most of their web presence.

Martin has created hundreds of web sites over the years and currently hosts and maintains sites for dozens of companies mainly in the Cheddar and wider Somerset area as well as assisting with their social media and Google advertising. The Cheddarvillage site is an advertising-funded community service that Martin decided to start up after another local village site fell into disrepair in 2004, developing it year by year as new web features and services became available.

In Cheddar Martin is also the Secretary of the My Cheddar Community Group, and a Trustee of the Cheddar Youth Trust. He enjoys rock music, football, motorsport and Scalextric, and runs a sideline internet Scalextric store as well as being webmaster for the National Scalextric Collectors Club. Martin’s wife Andrea teaches at Bridgwater College and the kids are both at school in Cheddar.
